A&S Internships: Applying for Academic Credit
Read
A&S policies & procedures regarding internship credit before proceeding with your intake form.
Attention: Completed & signed learning agreements must be received
no later than two weeks from your start date. Applications for retroactive credit will not be considered. Therefore, we advise starting the process below well in advance of your internship start date, particularly for international scholars who must request
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization.*
Ideally, students should submit this form shortly after securing an internship offer.
To determine your eligibility for internship credit, fill out and submit the entire intake form. Within 1-3 business days, you will receive direct communication from the College Office regarding your eligibility & next steps.
If your eligibility is confirmed, you will receive an internship learning agreement (ILA) from a (i) department coordinator or from (ii) ArtSci internships for General Studies (GeSt) credit. Do not download a form online, as A&S requires the most updated ILA.
To ensure timely credit enrollment, complete the following steps:
- Complete the ILA in conversation with your internship supervisor and faculty sponsor. Both should sign the document, as should you. All signatures must be physical or digitally authenticated.
- Submit your ILA to the appropriate credit coordinator no later than 2 weeks after your start date.
- Once approved, you will receive instructions to enroll yourself (departmental credit) or will be enrolled (GeSt) in the appropriate course.
- Upon fulfilling your internship role, complete all required assessments, as indicated by your faculty sponsor and/or internship coordinator.
*All international students must receive CPT authorization on their I-20 to work outside the university. After you submit your intake form, download a CPT application from MyOISS under the “Request & Documents” tab. Once you complete it with your faculty sponsor, return it to Emma Merrigan (artsci-internships@email.wustl.edu) for her signature at least 10-15 days before your official start date.
