BRC Testing Service Agreement

Thank you for your interest in using the Bioethics Research Center (BRC) Testing Service. We want to support evaluation and research on ethical, social, and professional issues.

This online service agreement requests information about which test(s) you plan to use and for what purposes, and presents the terms of the service agreement and solicits your consent.
Please indicate the BRC test(s) you would like to administer. (check all that apply)
Do you plan to publish the results of your project?

Will the testing support a training or research grant?

Terms of Use

Permission to use any BRC test requires users to agree to the following terms:

  • I will either a) follow precisely the scoring instructions provided in the User Manual or b) contract with the BRC to administer and score the test(s).
  • If I need to share the test(s) or User Manual(s) with immediate colleagues in order to administer the test(s), I will ensure that they honor the terms of this agreement. Otherwise, I will not distribute the test(s) or the User Manual(s) to others, and I will not post the test(s) publicly. Others may request use of the test(s) by contacting brctesting@wustl.edu.
  • I will not distribute the answer key or scoring guide, or post the answer key publicly. I will not provide correct answers to test-takers.
  • I will not alter the content of the test(s), including re-wording of items, omitting items, changing the scoring system, producing a short form of the measure, or other modifications without the cooperation and written permission of the BRC.
  • I will not use any test in an inappropriate manner (e.g., to make employment decisions) and will restrict usage to the purposes described in this service agreement.
  • If I use the test(s) for research purposes, I will obtain prior approval from a Research Ethics Committee (REC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) and will comply with the ethical requirements of the respective REC or IRB.
  • In any publications referencing the use of the test(s), I will cite the original test validation paper(s) indicated in the test User Manual.
  • I will not use the test(s) for commercial purposes.
  • If I am contracting with BRC for BRC to administer and score the test(s), I give permission to BRC to retain a de-identified copy of the data for the purposes of research, meta-analysis, and test refinement.
  • If I am administering the test(s) myself (i.e. not contracting with BRC for BRC to administer and score the test(s)), I will share the de-identified data from the administration of the test(s) with the BRC, including data from other measures with which the test(s) is being compared or correlated.

BRC will treat all Testing Service data confidentially, and will only use the retained de-identified data for research, meta-analysis, and test refinement purposes.
